The human mind is capable of many things. Only a small percentage of what can be done is known to the general public. A slightly larger amount is what everyone has been accessing. The rest is a mystery; save for those stories about psychics, foresight, acute empathy, and the amazing feats accomplished in the heat of the moment. In lands soaked with unrest, blood, and crimes against natural order, the not-so-simple nature of dreams hits a stranger turn.

It is during the time of subconscious workings, typically moving to relieve stress, and bring you messages on what to keep an eye out for. Either that, or making it more well known on what's been keeping that busy mind of yours going into overdrive. However, given the right circumstances, the mind will take a glimpse into what a human should never see. Walls of fire, shadows being the light, and nothing but emotions of negativity. Lands known as hell, a land for demons, spirits of humans who grew so inhumane, they turned into something 'else,' and the souls of those that made deals with the wrong type of being.

They are not safe, however. Instead, the people are left exposed, and wake up with a burning feeling all over their bodies. Strange things are being noticed during times of consciousness. Seeing figures of black at the edge of your sight, inexplicably catching the scent of something burning, and eventually a pair of hellish eyes every time one's eyes stayed closed for longer than a moment. During long nights, lighting seems to flicker, and the victim's ears become prone to catching the sound of scratching and creatures scurrying by.

About 8 times out of 10, the victim falls into a state of paranoia, which either leads to an attack on someone unsuspecting, or voluntary admittance into a hospital. The other times, unusual accidents occur, which are either classified as suicides, or accidental deaths. Those whom attempt such, yet fail for being in protective custody claim to have seen creatures which all carry the cry of those souls trapped in the hellish world, seen in their dreams. The similar physical feature was the eyes, being a black abyss opened by jaws.

We'll call this case's victim John Doe.

It was the height of the nineties, where the masses still had trouble coordinating fashion. Starting off with a student at Suffolk Community College, with the plans to spend a couple of years there, and transferring off to a better college to save money. The late summer wasn't the most comfortable, but left the nights cool enough to enjoy the nightly breeze. While drowning in the texts of the newest classes, he falls asleep; succumbing to the nightmare that'd chill them to their very core.

Put off, thinking the beginning of the school year resulted in enough stress for the horrible nightmare, Student John Doe continues his classes, to keep as little focus on that bad dream. A single nightmare turns into 3, and captured John Doe's curiosity and fascination. He tried to learn more about the gruesome world, believed to be cooked up by his own unusual imagination.

Three more nights of reaching this setting occur over the next month. John Doe realizes the creatures of horror, and what look to be people twisted into something 'else,' and others tortured in ways he couldn't possibly imagine. Fascination no longer remains in his mind, and now there's nothing but fear of those creatures.

The dreams cease, and it's nearing the Winter Solstice. From the corner of his eye, John Doe experiences sightings of the bizarre creatures of that dreamed Hell World. Dark laughter interrupts his concentration during classes, and one day he almost falls asleep. Only to be jostled awake again by a pair of eyes of pure evil within his mind. The rest of the class is only able to find humor in John Doe's panic, as the teacher removes him from the class.

Paranoia deepens, and John Doe has secluded himself within his room at home. He chooses to skip out on a family occasion of heading to a party at the local church. In desperation, with lights on and TV blasting, he attempts to get some sleep. Instead of accomplishing what he desired, John Doe claims to have been attacked by the creature with eyes of jaws open, holding a black abyss inside. Parents of John Doe only report him having taken his father's gun and shooting at a doorway, with one misfire having gotten to his leg.

For his, and other's, safety, John Doe was put into Pilgrim State and remains there to this day. To keep him at a state of calm, he's on scheduled medication, cannot handle the nights with the light off, and refuses visitors of any kind. Over the years, his condition has worsened, with complaints of old patients, which he claims to have seen in the Hell World, visit him with electricity crackling, or their heads bleeding.

Pilgrim State, also known as Pilgrim Psychiatric Center, is a mental hospital located in Brentwood, New York. At a time, it was the largest hospital, of any kind, in the world. Over the years, as medicine and community care started to become more of an option, downsizing started off in portions. Part was used by the government, as the farming section of the hospital was turned into part of Suffolk Community College's campus. Only about a third of the original hospital remains intact and open today.
I'm sorry if this confuses anyone. First, it gives an insight and background, the story, then a little history to give the story some depth.

Alright, you can go about saying how my 'horror' stories suck. xD I won't hold it against ya.
